In October 2007 on the
heels of the $350,000 settlement in the lawsuit arising from a
RAGBRAI fatality, Crawford County passed a resolution prohibiting
“RAGBRAI and any event of like kind and nature” from using Crawford
County secondary roads.
The Ft. Dodge

- RAGBRAI Controversy Focuses on Proper Role of County Roads
At the Fall School,
the county supervisors agreed to encourage each county to adopt this
resolution, which requests that the Iowa Legislature pass
legislation in 2008 limiting counties' liability for bike accidents
occurring on secondary roads.
