Iowa State Association of Counties
Spring School of Instruction
Downtown
Marriott & Renaissance Savery, Des Moines
March 12-14, 2008
What is the Spring School of Instruction?
This annual meeting held in March is the Association’s business
meeting, where the ISAC budget is approved by the membership. ISAC
plans seminars on Sunday afternoon and a general session on Monday
with a keynote speaker. Programming Monday afternoon and all day
Tuesday is left to the affiliate associations to plan. Sunday is an
optional day for affiliate committees to meet.
Who attends the Spring School of Instruction?
The conference is open to county officials from all departments,
which are known as affiliates. This includes county assessors,
attorneys, auditors, conservation directors, emergency management
directors, engineers, environmental health specialists, information
technology directors, public health nurses, recorders, community
services directors, sheriffs, supervisors, treasurers, and zoning
officials. There will be approximately 850 county officials
attending the conference.
Associate members of ISAC are also invited to attend. Associate
members are companies or organizations that do business with
counties and pay a fee to ISAC to receive discounts on advertising,
booth rentals, etc. And finally, exhibitors and sponsors attend the
Spring School of Instruction, along with ISAC staff members and
alumni members.
Why should your company be involved?
ISAC members make or are heavily involved in most of the purchase
decisions and contracts counties enter into with private sector
businesses. Because ISAC is a focal point for county government
officials, there are tremendous opportunities for private sector
businesses to promote their services to 900 key decision makers in
Iowa’s county governments.
Attend this conference and talk with the specialty target audience
for your company’s marketing efforts - county officials in Iowa.
This is one of our largest events of the year and we want you to be
a part of it! ISAC offers you several ways to be involved: 1)
exhibit; 2) be a conference sponsor; 3) advertise in the conference
program; and 4) attend the conference in person.
Where will the conference be held?
ISAC will again use conference facilities at the Downtown Marriott
in Des Moines, Iowa. The exhibit hall, conference registration and
general session will be held at the Marriott. There are 33 floors
and 415 sleeping rooms at the Marriott. The Renaissance Savery will
be used for the ISAC Dance and will provide more space for
affiliates to meet. Additional hotel rooms are being reserved at the
Hotel Fort Des Moines. All three of these hotels are connected by
skywalk.
