Preparing for the Public Health Emergency: What You Can Do Now
Wednesday, November 18
9:00 - 10:15 am

The threat of the H1N1 flu in early May has served as a stress test for response systems at all levels of government, pinpointing weaknesses in the planning, training and exercising of an effective response to the threat, as well as in managing public expectations and concerns. Through a panel discussion you will benefit from lessons learned this spring from local and state public health officials and be able to apply that information toward better preparedness for future public health emergencies in your county.

Panel Presentation:

  • Julie Schilling, President, Iowa Counties Public Health Association and Administrator, Lee County Health Department (Moderator)
  • Lawrence Barker, Health Director, Scott County Health Department
  • Douglas Beardsley, Director, Johnson County Public Health
  • Terri Henkels, Director, Polk County Health Department
  • Linda Rosenberger, Director, Tama County Health Department
  • Mary Jones, Deputy Director, Iowa Department of Public Health
