Who and What is Puddin’ Truck?

Puddin’ Truck is a four-piece dance band from the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area. Since joining forces in 2004, Mark Linda, Craig Bartels, Rick Oltman and Denton Ketels have become a high demand musical attraction for any event where ages range from 20-70, and where fun and dancing are the reasons for gathering.

Puddin’ Truck plays rock, blues, reggae, swing, rockabilly, rhythm and blues, and real country music if you want it. The boys each have decades of experience and know how to get a house full of people up off their seats. They specialize in a tight ensemble rock sound that’s powerful but not too loud, punctuated by excellent vocals and harmony signing.

The band’s extensive repertoire includes arrangements of great songs by artists like Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Wilson Pickett, the Beatles, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, the Young Rascals, NRBQ, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Delbert McClinton, Chuck Berry, J.J. Cale and many others.

Puddin’ Truck performs regularly at public houses, private parties and community festivals. Recent appearances in northeast and central Iowa include Jameson’s Irish Pub, the Cellar, the Firehouse, Cedar Falls Gateway Park, Cedar Falls Community Main Street Sea Food Boil, Waterloo’s People in the Park, Eldora’s Pine Lake Festival, Dike Watermelon Days and Cedar Falls Live to 9.

The players:

Mark Linda, bass and vocals. Mark’s distinctive guitar work and lead vocals have been featured in bands Bamboo, Busted Flush, the Johnny Scepter Band and Winchester.

Craig Bartels, guitar and vocals. Craig’s powerful vocals and guitar have been featured with Bamboo, Second Wind, Red Rooster Band, Out of the Blue and the Nationals.

Rick Oltman, guitar and vocals. Rick’s outstanding guitar and vocal work were previously heard with Second Wind, Red Rooster Band, the Nationals and the Donny Brazille Band.

Denton Ketels, drums and vocals. Denton’s years of experience include the Don Hoy Big Band, Second Wind, Milk and Honey and Heath Alan.
