Legislature At Break Neck Speed
Legislators have introduced 262
new pieces of legislation in the first week of session. The first
week deadline for individual bills certainly had an impact on the
number of bills generated early. In addition, the legislature seems
to be committed to moving this session along and meeting the
shortened session deadlines. The first funnel, when bills have to be
out of committee in their house of origin, is February 12. The
second funnel, when bills have to be out of committee in the second
house, is March 5, and the projected end date of session is March
31. Because of the compression of timelines, it is more important
than ever that county officials keep an eye on what is happening
under the golden dome and act on alerts that come from ISAC.
