Axle Weight Bill

HF 2512, the axel weight bill, extends the weight limits that currently apply to livestock and construction vehicles to commercial motor vehicles, allowing for loads of up to 96,000 pounds on 7 axels. Special trucks are exempt. The bill also requires the driver to obtain a commercial driver’s license, unless they’re exempt under Iowa Code §321.176, which exempts farmers. The provisions of the bill only apply to vehicles operating on non-interstate highways.
